Frequently asked questions

Everything people ask before their first meeting.

Is Yorkmeet really free forever?
Yes. Every core feature — unlimited meeting length, unlimited participants, HD video, screen sharing, chat, recording, whiteboard, AI summaries and webinars — is free. There is no paid tier hiding features, and we never ask for a credit card.
Are there any time limits on meetings?
None at all. Your meeting continues until you end it. A session can run for 5 minutes or 5 hours — we will never cut you off.
How many people can join one meeting?
Rooms comfortably support up to 500 people. Hosts can add observers, waiting-room guests and up to 100 breakout groups without extra charges.
Do participants need to install anything?
No. Yorkmeet runs entirely in the browser on desktop, tablet and mobile. Just share the link — that's the whole setup. Native apps are optional if you want them.
Can I use it for research and interviews?
Absolutely. The research workspace adds consent notices, waiting rooms, silent observer seats, timestamped notes, live transcription and unlimited recordings — all included for free.
Are recordings and transcripts included?
Yes. Recording is free and unlimited, and every recording can be paired with a searchable transcript and an AI summary. Files are stored in your workspace so you can revisit, download or share them with your team.
Do virtual backgrounds and breakout rooms cost extra?
No. Virtual backgrounds, background blur, breakout rooms, whiteboard, polls, Q&A, reactions and live captions are all free on every Yorkmeet plan — with no watermarks.
How is Yorkmeet funded if it's free?
Yorkmeet is supported by optional enterprise services and partnerships. The core meeting experience stays free for individuals, researchers, students and small teams — permanently.
